American Kestrel, August 2014, Awendah, SC
A kestrel is a fast bird like the merlin. They are both in the falcon family.
The wire that is on the back of the kestrel is called a telemetry wire. It helps the people know where the kestrel is if it is far away.
Thank you, Mrs. April for sending me this link. Everyone needs to see this!!
Thank you all for reading my blog.
Silas, your blog is quickly becoming an important part of my attempts to not do library work while I'm at the library-thank you! And that is so cool about the telemetry wire! What kind of sounds do kestrels make? You can fill me in the next time we see the Powells!
ReplyDeleteWow Silas! Luke and I are very interested in this! Does this wire hurt? We miss you!
ReplyDeleteI have never even heard of that bird before! Very interesting!
