Bird Mania

 This is a Gold finch feeding on a dying bull thistle.
 This is a black capped chicadee what I have noticed is that tufted tit mice and chickadees cannot break through the sunflower seeds so they have to hit the seed with their beaks like woodpeckers.

Song Birds

 In my yard I got a photo of a Black-Capped Chickadee.To ID this bird look for a black hat and a yellow belly.
 Here is a song sparrow.
Look at the beautiful orange belly!This is a Baltimore Oriole.

Birding in the Everglades

This morning in the everglades I saw a Barred owl.I have never seen a owl in the wild.
Later we saw a juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk perched on a tree overlooking the saw grass.

 Next we saw a great Egret spear a baby water snake (look closely!!)

Finally we saw purple martins at their southern most point in the continental USA-- at the Robert is Here fruitstand.

WILD RED TAILED

Above:  This blue jay is in a bad mood with this red tailed hawk near its nest. 


This may look gruesome but really it is a red tailed hawk with a squirrel.  I shot this photo in my backyard.

Falconry for beginers

At the Avian Reconditioning Center


We went to the Avian Reconditioning center for birds of pray we saw lots of birds such as this crested caracara  it was so awesome.  
 We saw a bald eagle and I got a good look at its talons.
At the end  I saw Red -tailed Hawk and this shows how red the tail is.
